How to use Pop Magics with OBS

OBS is your control room; Pop Magics is your magic camera. Add Pop Magics as a source and your 3D characters, animated text, and live alerts flow straight into your scenes. Here's how to wire it up and keep it smooth.

Pop Magics plays beautifully with OBS. Because it outputs a real virtual camera, OBS treats it like any other webcam — and the feed arrives with your 3D AR stage and live alerts already on it. Build the rest of your show around it. Here's the clean setup.

Before you start

  • Pop Magics installed and running (download here).
  • OBS Studio installed.

Step-by-step

  1. Start Pop Magics and build your stage

    Open Pop Magics and set up your shot — 3D stickers/characters, animated text, and your live alerts. Whatever's on the stage is what OBS will capture.

  2. Add it as a Video Capture source in OBS

    In OBS, click + under Sources → Video Capture Device → name it → set Device to Pop Magics. Your AR stage appears live in the OBS canvas.

  3. Position it in your scene

    Resize, crop, and layer the Pop Magics source like any camera. Add your overlays, alerts boxes (if you use OBS-side ones), starting-soon screens, and transitions around it. It's just a camera now — go wild with the scene.

  4. Tune performance

    Pop Magics and OBS share your GPU, so match resolution and frame rate to your hardware and plan tier. 720p or 1080p at 30fps is comfortable for most rigs. Our output settings guide has the details.

Sparko tip: Don't double up your alerts. If you're running 3D alert bubbles in Pop Magics, you usually don't need a second alert box layer in OBS — pick one stage for the spotlight.

Should I add Pop Magics as a source or stream it directly?

If you build full scenes in OBS, add Pop Magics as a Video Capture Device source. If OBS is your only layer, you can also pick Pop Magics as the camera in your streaming app directly. Both work.

Will running both apps slow my PC down?

They share your GPU, so match resolution and frame rate to your hardware and tier. 720p/1080p at 30fps is comfortable for most machines — see the output settings guide.

Do I still get alerts and 3D characters inside OBS?

Yes. Everything on the Pop Magics stage comes through in the feed OBS captures, so 3D characters, text, and alert bubbles all show up on stream.
