How to add a virtual camera to Zoom, Google Meet & Microsoft Teams
Pop Magics turns your plain webcam into a live AR stage — 3D stickers, animated text, and stream alerts — then hands it to any meeting app as a virtual camera. Here's the 5-minute setup on macOS and Windows.
Tired of showing up to calls as just-another-face-in-a-grid? With Pop Magics you can pop a 3D character on your shoulder, float an animated name tag under your chin, or run a full AR scene — and it all flows into Zoom, Meet, and Teams like a normal webcam. No screen-share hacks, no green screen required. Let's wire it up.
What you'll need
- Pop Magics installed on your Mac or PC (grab it here — the free trial is plenty to test this).
- A webcam (built-in or USB).
- Zoom, Google Meet (in Chrome/Edge), or Microsoft Teams.
Step-by-step
-
Install Pop Magics
Download Pop Magics for macOS or Windows and run the installer. On macOS you'll be asked to approve a system camera extension — say yes, because that's the piece that makes the virtual camera visible to other apps. On Windows the virtual camera registers automatically.
-
Start Pop Magics
Open the app. Your webcam preview lights up in the main stage. This is your moment to make magic — drop a 3D sticker or AR character, add some animated text, or just leave your clean shot for a polished, professional look. Whatever's on the stage is what your meeting will see.
-
Select "Pop Magics" as your camera
Hop into your meeting app and pick Pop Magics from the camera list:
Zoom: Settings → Video → Camera → Pop Magics. (Or click the ^ next to the camera button in a call.)
Google Meet: Settings (gear) → Video → Camera → Pop Magics.
Microsoft Teams: Settings → Devices → Camera → Pop Magics.Boom — your AR stage is now your camera. Anything you change in Pop Magics updates live in the call.
-
Don't see "Pop Magics"? Fix it fast
Most of the time the meeting app just needs a fresh start: fully quit Zoom/Meet/Teams (quit the app, don't only close the window) and reopen it while Pop Magics is running. On macOS, double-check the camera extension is approved in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Camera Extensions. Still stuck? Our virtual camera troubleshooting guide has the full checklist.
Tips for a great-looking call
- Match your resolution. 720p is plenty for most calls; bump to 1080p on Creator if you want razor-sharp framing. See our best output settings guide.
- Light your face, not your background. AR effects look their best on a well-lit subject.
- Test before the big one. Hop into a Zoom test meeting and confirm the feed before your first real call.

Why don't I see the Pop Magics camera in my meeting app?
Most meeting apps only scan for cameras when they launch. Fully quit Zoom, Meet, or Teams (not just close the window) and reopen it after Pop Magics is running. On macOS, make sure the Pop Magics system camera extension is approved in System Settings. Our troubleshooting guide covers the rest.
Does Pop Magics work on both Mac and Windows?
Yes. Pop Magics runs on macOS and Windows and exposes a virtual camera that any webcam-aware app can use — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, OBS, Twitch, and YouTube included.
Is there a watermark on the virtual camera?
Paid plans have no watermark. The free trial and free tier add a small Pop Magics mark; upgrade to Creator or Studio to remove it.
